Misleading Claims and Clickbait Tactics Overview
06/12/2025
What constitutes a misleading product listing?
We consider a product listing to be misleading if it features:- False display of information about the product or your shop. This means they must be consistent with the actual product sold. This means they must not contain any inaccurate or false information. An example of this is a product listing that displays a branded object, while the promoted product is unbranded.
- Exaggerated descriptions or absolute claims about the product that are inaccurate or unverifiable. This may refer to statements that use hyperbolic language to describe a product. An example of this is a claim that a product can produce "instant" results or results within a very short span of time.
- Clickbait tactics aimed at attracting "clicks" or "views". Clickbait tactics can be used to induce people to click on a product listing to drive up traffic for the shop. An example of this is listing a product in an eye-catching but bewildering manner, such as selling tissue as individual pieces instead of traditional box packs
- Comparisons with other products on TikTok Shop by Tokopedia or other e-commerce websites. This may include claims that a product is cheaper on TikTok Shop by Tokopedia than on another website.
