What are Platform Promotions?

Platform promotions are the promotions that are 100% sponsored by platform. They offer customers discounted prices to support promotional events on TikTok.

Platform promotions are available in both daily and platform campaigns (Product Campaigns and Livestream Campaigns).

What types of Platform Promotions are supported by Platform?

TikTok Shop-sponsored promotions can be classified into two categories: Shipping-based and Product-based promotions.
  1. Shipping-based promotions include shipping fee voucher
  2. Product-based promotions include Product Vouchers, Fixed Product Discounts, and Buy More Save More

How to recognize Platform Promotions by Platform?

Head to the TikTok App to check for platform funded promotions. We include icons to highlight where we have provided a discount to consumers. Below we will show you the promotion types we apply and how to spot them within the App.
We display icons across: Product Detail Page, Live, Showcase, Shopping Cart, and other consumer-facing pages.

Platform Promotion Types

Now you know which Icons to look for, let's learn more about each promotion type and how to spot them across Product Detail Page, Live Shopping Bag, Showcase, etc.

Shipping-based Promotions

Shipping Fee Voucher

Shipping Vouchers are offered to consumers throughout the App as a tool to improve customer experience.
  • These may cover some or all of the shipping cost for a consumer
  • These require users to 'claim' the voucher in order to redeem at checkout

Shipping Vouchers can be used in conjunction with all seller promotions, but when calculating the shipping fee, shipping Vouchers will be deducted first. If there are still shipping costs after deduction, sellers bear them.

Product-based Promotions

Product Voucher

Product Vouchers offer consumers 'RpX off' their order when hitting a minimum purchase value.
  • These require users to 'claim' the voucher in order to redeem at checkout

When meeting minimum purchase, consumers can enjoy platform Vouchers with seller promotions at the same time.

Fixed Product Discount (Rp off)

TikTok Shop provides exclusive Fixed Product Discounts - these are highlighted with a 'Hot Deals' Icon. In addition, platform sets up Fixed Product Discounts specific to content or user types. These have additional tags to help consumers know they are limited in some form. For example: Live Exclusive, First order deal etc.

Platform Fixed Product Discount (Rp off) cannot be used in conjunction with seller Flash Sale promotions. If these two promotions are applied to the same product, only Flash Sale prices will be displayed.

Buy More Save More

Buy More Save More promotions offer consumers discounts for increasing their basket size.

When meeting promotion conditions, TikTok Shop Buy More Save More can be used in conjunction with all seller promotions.

How do I calculate the final price for a consumer?

When consumers buy products which have both platform funded promotions and seller promotions applied, how does platform calculate the payment? What's the logic behind the check-out price?
Logic Flow
  1. Calculate the shipping fee with platform shipping-based promotions first. If there are still shipping costs after deduction and sellers provide free shipping promotion, sellers bear them. If there are still shipping costs after deduction with both promotions, consumers bear them.
  2. When there are both TikTok Shop promotions and seller promotions, calculate sellers' promotions first.
  3. Effective Priority: Seller Campaign Price > Seller Flash Sale > Seller Discount (These three promotions cannot be stackable, so the price displays according to the 'effective priority').

FAQ

  1. Can Shipping Vouchers and Product Vouchers be returned to consumers when they place orders with vouchers but decide to cancel orders or return product after received?
The return terms of Shipping Vouchers and Product Vouchers are different.
Shipping Vouchers:
  • If the order has not been delivered, the shipping voucher will be returned to the consumer.
  • Returned shipping voucher will not be redeemable if expired (the voucher's period of validity varies with different promotion events, so there is no regular time, and consumers can see the validity period from the voucher, e.g. "valid until 11/12/2022")
  • If the order has been delivered, shipping costs are incurred. Therefore, the shipping voucher cannot be returned even with full refunds on the order.
Product Vouchers: Product voucher can be returned to the consumer when the order is cancelled or a full refund of transaction has been made. However, the returned voucher will no longer be redeemable if expired.
